ATTENTION PLAYERS AND PARENTS
Hockeyscene partner/features editor Liz Malone has initiated a new feature, Each day hockeyscene.com plans to feature a player of the day. She is currently looking for more  players to interview. If you are 14-18 year-old female or male hockey player, who is willing to do an interview call 1-888-917-7070. The call is FREE.
The players selected in the initial batch were interviewed at the Andrews Atlantic Hockey Showcase in Charlottetown in late June and at the UNB V-Reds Prospects Senior Elite Camp in early July. A new player will be honoured each day as his or her profile story appears on the pages of Atlantic Canada’s hockey website.

BOWERS CLEARED TO PLAY IN U.S.
Shane Bowers, a 16 year-old from Halifax who was the first selection by the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, has been officially cleared to play in the USHL for the Waterloo (Iowa) Black Hawks. The USHL is the top junior hockey league in the United States.
Moncton Wildcats third round pick Michael O’Leary, also of Halifax will be joining Bowers in the same league playing for the Dubuque Fighting Saints. He was a first round pick of the Eagles in 2014 and refused to report. He is committed to Cornell University in 2016 or 2017.

  FREDERICTON, NB, September 4, 2015 - The North West Bantam Major AAA Bulls & the North West Bantam Minor AAA Pionniers will hold tryouts beginning September 10th for the upcoming 2015-2016 season. Players who were born in 2001-02, and want to play must pre register.

  FREDERICTON, NB, September 4, 2015 - With the demise of the Fredericton Midget Minor AAA this Coming season in the New Brunswick Midget Minor AAA Hockey League, the Western Knights Midget Minor AAA will begin their first season  based out of Nackawic, New Brunswick.
 
MOOSE FALL TO EAGLES AGAIN IN PRESEASON
  HALIFAX, NS, September 3, 2015 - Halifax Mooseheads fell to 0-4-0-1 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League preseason play following a 3-1 loss to Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Thursday night at the Halifax Forum. The Screaming Eagles finish the exhibition season with a 4-1-1 record.
 
JUNIOR B TOURNEY SLATED FOR MID MONTH
  EAST HANTS, NS, September 4, 2015 - The six teams of the Nova Scotia Junior B Hockey League are set to play in the 2015 - 16 OPOE Tournament September 11-13 at the East Hants Sportsplex giving players, coaches and officials some pre season hockey action and fans a chance to see a preview of the coming season.

RAMBLERS, BLUES FORGE NEW RELATIONSHIP
  AMHERST, NS, September 2, 2015 - With the Maritime Junior Hockey League Amherst Ramblers receiving new gear this season, the junior A team has reached out to the Cumberland County Blues to provide the junior B club with gear including helmets, gloves and pants. The arrangement is part of a new era of co-operation between the two teams.
 
VETERAN NL FORWARD JOINS RAMBLERS
  AMHERST, NS, September 2, 2015 – Veteran forward Marcus Cuomo has joined the Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers. The 20-year-old St. John’s native left the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League over the weekend and arrived in Amherst early Tuesday.

ACES ADD PLAYER IN TRADE, TRIM ROSTER
  ST. STEPHEN, NB, August 31, 2015 ­– The County ACES of the Maritime Junior Hockey League released eight players on Monday and added one via trade to reduce the roster to 25 entering Tuesday’s pre-season game at home against the Woodstock Slammers.

  DIEPPE, NB, August 30, 2015 - In preseason play this weekend the Dieppe Commandos continued where the defending Maritime Junior Hockey League champions finished off last season, winning hockey games against league opponents.The Commandos swept their two weekend games with former Commandos coach Jeff LeBlanc and his Amherst Ramblers.

JUNIOR VITOS SET TO GET READY TO DEFEND
  MONCTON, NB, August 31, 2015 – The defending New Brunswick and Atlantic Junior B champion Moncton Vito’s Junior Hockey Club has announced plans for the team's eighth season of operation. The Junior Vito’s will again play in the Junior “B” section of the nine team New Brunswick Junior Hockey League for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
 
METRO HALIFAX TEAMS WIN GAMES SUNDAY
  HALIFAX, NS, August 30, 2015 - The three N.S. Major Midget hockey teams won their pre season games Sunday as the Cole Harbour Wolf Pack beat the Valley Wildcats 5-1; the Halifax McDonalds topped the South Shore Mustangs 6-1 and the Dartmouth Steele Subarus bested the Pictou County Weeks 8-1.

  SYDNEY, NS, August 29, 2015 - The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles dominated the Mooseheads 7-2 in their final home Quebec Major Junior Hockey League pre-season game played Saturday night at Centre 200 in Sydney.
 
PENGUINS SIGN THE ISLANDERS SPRONG
  PITTSBURGH, PA, August 29, 2015 - The National Hockey League Pittsburgh Penguins has signed Daniel Sprong, their top selection in the 2015 NHL Draft, to a three-year, entry-level contract. Sprong, an 18 year-old forward with the Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), was chosen by the Penguins in the second round (46th overall).
 
WILDCATS TRADE BEATON TO REMPARTS
  MONCTON NB, August 29, 2015 – Overstocked in 20 year-olds the Moncton Wildcats has traded Springhill, NS native Bronson Beaton to the Quebec Remparts. The Wildcats had obtained Beaton from the Acadie-Bathurst Titan mid last season. He was one of five 20 year-olds in the Wildcats camp and teams are only allowed to play three.
 
WILDCATS FINISH PRE SEASON, SHUTOUT DOGS
  BOUCTOUCHE, NB, August 28, 2015 - Zachary Fortin made 32 stops to earn a shutout and four different Moncton Wildcats found the back of the net in a 4-0 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs in the final Quebec Major Junior Hockey League preseason action for both teams Friday in front of over 1000 spectators at JK Irving Centre here in Bouctouche.

  SAINT JOHN, NB, August 27, 2015 - Garrett Johnston scored the game-winning goal with under seven minutes remaining, leading the Moncton Wildcats to a 3-1 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League preseason action Thursday night at Harbour Station.

  MONCTON NB, August 26, 2015 – The Moncton Wildcats has added blueliner Sacha Guay to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey league team’s training camp roster. A native of Laval, Quebec, the 19 year-old defenceman was recently signed by the Moncton Wildcats as a free agent.

FOG ENDS TIED MOOSEHEADS-ISLANDERS GAME
  TRURO, NS, August 22, 2015 - It isn’t often. In fact likely never, that a hockey game is cancelled due to weather in the summer but Saturday night QMJHL officials had to call a game at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre and it was all caused by the heat outside as fog obscured the ice and ended play with just over eight minutes left in the first period and the game tied 2-2.
 
PRE SEASON UNDERWAY FOR N.S. MAJOR MIDGETS
  HALIFAX, NS, August 23, 2015 - The first three games of pre season action by the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League were played this weekend with the Halifax MacDonalds winning a pair 4-0 on Saturday and a 4-1 win Sunday over the Cole Harbour WolfPack. Dartmouth Major Midgets were 7-4 winners on Saturday over the Valley Wildcats.
 
SEA DOGS CONTINUE TO BARK LOUDLY
  SAINT JOHN, NB, August 22, 2015 - Goal scoring does not appear that it is going to be a problem for the Saint John Sea Dogs at least in the early going. The Sea Dogs have scored a total of 27 goals in the team's four pre-season games to date.
 
WILDCATS SETTLE ON GOALTENDING DUO
  MONCTON NB; August 21, 2015 – Moncton Wildcats has settled on the team's goaltending duo to start the 2015-16 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season. Three of the team's prospective goaltenders have returned to their teams where Goaltending Development Coach Scott Munroe will continue to work with them.

  BATHURST, NB, August 21, 2015 - Saint John Sea Dogs broke up a hard fought Quebec Major Junior Hockey League pre-season battle with Acadie - Bathurst Titan in front of 1,554 fans in attendance at the KC Irving Regional Centre Friday night with five goals in the third period on their way to an 8-2 win.
