GAMES POSTPONED

Wednesday night’s game Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game between the Moncton Wildcats and Charlottetown Islanders scheduled for the EastLink Centre in Charlottetown was postponed due to another winter storm striking the region. A makeup game will be played at 7:00pm March 2, 2015.
A
Maritime Junior Hockey League game between the Valley Wildcats and Amherst Ramblers, which has now been postponed three times due to winter storms, has now been scheduled to be played on Monday, March 2nd at 7:30pm at Amherst Stadium.
A makeup date has also been announced for a game between the Miramichi Timberwolves and Summerside Western Capitals, originally scheduled for February 16th.It will now be played on Wednesday, March 4th at 7:00pm at Eastlink Arena.

TEAM NB EARNS BERTH IN QUARTERFINALS
After losing all three of their preliminary round games the Team New Brunswick male hockey team earned a berth in the quarterfinals at the Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC with a 5-1 victory over previously unbeaten Prince Edward Island Wednesday night. Team NB played undefeated Team Alberta Thursday night in quarterfinal action and lost 6-1.
Team Nova Scotia lost 4-1 to Team Manitoba in it’s quarter-final game Thursday.
Prince Edward Island went on to a 5-1 record at the week long event but that one loss cost them a chance to be in medal contention.

CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND IN NEWFOUNDLAND
Three provincial championships will be decided this weekend in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Female Midget AAA championship will be decided in Bonavista, the fFemale Bantam AAA championship in Mobile and Male Midget AAA title will be on the line in Placentia. Hockeyscene.com hopes to have results of all these championships throughout the weekend and wrap-up stories and pictures when they are over.

MONCTON WILDCATS NOW RANKED FIFTH
The Moncton Wildcats is ranked fifth in the latest Canadian Hockey League BMO Top 10 Rankings for the 2014-15 regular season. The Wildcats has switched places with Rimouski Oceanic which has dropped to seventh. The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada remains eighth.The weekly rankings of the Canadian Hockey League’s Top 10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.

FORMER WILDCAT BECOMES A LEAF
Pesky forward Zach Sill, a former Moncton Wildcat from Truro, NS, has been traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, along with draft picks, by the Pittsburgh Penguins for Daniel Winnik. Sill, a six foot, 200 pound 26 year-old is expected to stay with the Leafs as a third or fourth line winger for at least the rest of the season.

  CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI, February 28 , 2015 - The best-of-five IJHL Quarter-final series gets underway on Saturday night in Montague when the Total Assets Fitness Maniacs host the Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons at 7:30 to kick off the post-season.
 
AIGELS BLEUES WILL PLAY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP
  HALIFAX, NS, February 26, 2015 - The Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues won their second game in the AUS Women’s semi final series and the right to move on to the Championship series against the St. FX X-Women with a 3-1 victory of the Saint Mary’s Huskies Thursday night. AXEMEN OFF TO AUS CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
  WOLFVILLE, NS, February 26, 2015 - The Saint Mary’s Huskies scored first and last in their fifth and final game of the AUS Men’s Hockey semi finals but in between the Acadia Axemen scored a trio to take a 3-2 win and will now move on to the Championship final against the UNB Varsity Reds who also won Thursday night.

NL FEMALE BANTAM AAA CHAMPIONSHIP FRIDAY
  MOBILE, NL, February 25, 2015 - The 2015 Newfoundland & Labrador Bantam AAA Female Championship is being held this weekend, Febuary 27- March 1, at the Southern Shore Arena in Mobile, NL. The event features the top 13 and 14 year old female players in the province that are represented on five teams.
 
SEA DOGS COMEBACK VS EAGLES FALLS SHORT

  BOUCHERVILLE, QC, February 23, 2015 – Moncton Wildcats forward Conor Garland has been named the second star of the week in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the period from February 16 to 22, 2015. Blainville-Boisbriand Armada forward Philippe Sanche and Gatineau Olympiques goaltender, François Brassard were the other two stars named Monday.
