BREAKING NEWS

NHL NIXES TKACHEV-OILERS CONTRACT
The National Hockey League has ruled the entry-level contract signed between Moncton Wildcats Russian import Vladimir Tkachev and the Edmonton Oilers ineligible. Tkachev is ineligible due to the fact that he played two games for Omsk (KHL) last season and then waited for his release to play in the CHL where he finished off the season with the Wildcats. Tkachev did not arrive in Moncton until early 2014 as a result of delays in getting release from KHL team. This means that the Edmonton Oilers are not able to offer him a contract and he therefore goes into the 2015 NHL Draft.
Roger Shannon, Director of Hockey Operations for the Moncton Wildcats said, “This is very unfortunate for Vladimir, and will certainly cause the hockey powers to take a good look at the circumstances and possibly even lead to changes”.
