IN THE WINDY CITY - Murray Harbour, PEI native Brad Richards was in Chicago this week to meet his fellow Chicago Blackhawks players and the team's fans at the Seventh Annual Blackhawks Fan Convention after signing a one-year contract with the Blackhawks on July 1 worth a reported $2 million. The event drew an estimated 10,000 fans on Friday evening to watch Richards and other Blackhawks "low-five" their way down a fashion runway during the opening ceremonies.The 35 year-old Richards had his previous contract bought out by the New York Rangers this offseason. "I guess if you're going to come to a new team, this is a way to meet the whole organization. I've been here since Wednesday and it's been a lot of fun." he told nhl.com.

MHL 288 GAME SCHEDULE BEGINS SEPTEMBER 11
  FREDERICTON, NB, July 16, 2014 - The Maritime Junior Hockey League formally unveiled its 2014-15 regular season schedule Wednesday. The 12 teams will play 288 games from September 11th until March 8th. Each team will play a reduced 48 game schedule, a change that was adopted at this year’s annual general meeting last month.
 
SEA DOGS INVITE TWO ONTARIO FREE AGENTS TO CAMP
  SAINT JOHN, NB, July 16, 2014 - The Saint John Sea Dogs has extended invitations to the team's training camp to two prospects from the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL).
