IMPORTANT NOTICE
It is with great  sadness that I write this..Bob Malone passed away early Thursday morning after his short and painful fight with cancer. He is now at peace and with his Lord. I thank you for your understanding during the past few weeks. Bob was the editor of hockeyscene.com and along with Liz kept things as update date as possible until the last few weeks. The future is uncertain as I move forward. I thank the leagues, teams ans volunteers who kept us updated, wrote stories and sent pictures and the readers who helped make hockeyscene what is is today. FLYERS TOP VITOS FOR SECOND TIME IN WEEK
  QUISPAMSIS, NB, January 22, 2016 - for the second weekend in a row the Moncton Rallye Motors Flyers defeated the league leading Saint John Vitos and by just a single goal difference in NB-PEI Major Midget hockey. Friday night the Flyers skated to a 3-2 win.
 
MAPLE LEAFS CONTINUE WINNING STREAK
  ST. JOHN'S, NL, January 17, 2016 - The St. John's Maple Leafs won both games over the Central IcePak this weekend skating to a 6-2 win Saturday night and a 3-2 overtime win Sunday in Newfoundland Major Midget Hockey.
 
CLOSE ONE GOAL GAMES IN NB-PEI MAJOR MIDGET
  MONCTON, NB, January 17, 2016 - The Moncton Flyers won one and lost one this weekend Saturday they lost 4-3 to the Fredericton Caps and Sunday edged the Saint John Vitos 2-1. The Caps won 4-3 over the Kensington Wild in a shootout Sunday for their second weekend win. The Charlottetown Islanders also picked up a 5-4 shootout win over the Miramichi Rivermen Sunday.

  MONCTON, NB, January 14, 2016 - This past weekend the Moncton Midget AAA Rockets participated at the 11th annual DQ Female hockey tournament where they won two of their three round robin play and making it to the crossovers before taking a tough loss.

  FREDERICTON, NB, January 10, 2016 - The St. Thomas Tommies were 4-1 winners in the AUS Women’s Hockey League Sunday afternoon over the Dalhousie Tigers. Meanwhile the Mount Allison Mounties came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 4-3 over the St. FX X-Women.   HALIFAX, NS, January 10, 2016 - The Halifaxc Hawks will face off against the St. John's Hitman for the Bantam Championship banner at the Chronicle Herald East Coast Ice Jam Sunday at 2:15pm. The teams got there by winning their semi final games Sunday morning as the Hitman shut out the Fredericton Canadiens 3-0 and the Hawks edged Eastern Express 2-0.

  HALIFAX, NS, January 10, 2016 - The Darmouth Steele Subarus will face of against the Halifax McDonalds Sunday afternoon to decide the winner of the Chronicle Herald East Coast Ice Jam. The Subarus downed the Cape Breton Tradesmen 2-1 in the semis while the Macs edged the St. John's Privateers 3-2.

  HALIFAX, NS, January 9, 2016 - Quarter finals begin Saturday night in the Bantam Division of the East Coast Ice Jam following the final games of the playdowns. Halifax, Dieppe, Eastern, Fredericton, TASA, Sackville and Northern are the teams left in the mix.
 
NOVA SCOTIA MIDGETS DOMINATE AT ICE JAM
  HALIFAX, NS, January 9, 2016 - At least five Nova Scotia Major Midget teams will be moving on in the playoffs of the East Coast Ice Jam having won their games early Saturday. Valley, Halifax, Cape Breton and Cape Breton West and Dartmouh all posted wins. Only South Shore lost and that was to CB West.

  HALIFAX, NS, January 7, 2016 - Five Bantam division games at the East Coast Ice Jam closed out Thursday play with one an overtime win and the other four with lots of scoring and high scores.  Acadie-Miramichi Senators and the Pictou Co Scotians went to overtime with the Senators ending with a 3-2 win.

  HALIFAX, NS, January 7, 2016 - Three supper time Major Midget division games went to overtime at the East Coast Ice Jam and all but one ended with no decision as neither team could get the winning goal. Only Cape Breton managed to notch the win.

TasA downed Tri-Pen 3-2; Sackville and Dieppe played to a 5-5 tie; Cole Harbour lost 3-2 in overtime to Fredericton; St. John’s shut out Bedford 5-0; Truro edg4ed Prince Co. 4-3; Dartmouth got by Acadie-Miramichi 4-2 and Pictou Co. bested Central PEI 5-3.

  SYDNEY, NS, January 4, 2015  - The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles announced Mondaye the completion of a trade that that will bring 18-year-old defenceman Tobie Paquette-Bisson to the Screaming Eagles from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in exchange for a 2017 seventh round draft pick.

  FREDERICTON, NB, January 3, 2016 - The UNB Varsity Reds took both games in the Kelly Cup, winning Sunday 5-1 over the Concordia Stingers on Sunday afternoon. They won Saturday's game 6-3. The second half of the AUS Men's hockey schedule gets underway this coming Friday night.

  MONCTON NB, December 30, 2015 - The Moncton Wildcats has obtained the QMJHL rights to 18 year-old Sackville, NB, native  traded goaltender Julian Galloway, a native of nearby Sackville, NB. from the Québec Remparts, in exchange for goaltender Sébastien Dupré.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Maritimes Division leaders will try to extend that to six and seven in a pan of less than 24 hours as they face Charlottetown Islanders Wednesday at 7:00pm at the EastLink Centre in Charlottetown and Thursday at 2:00pm against Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the Coliseum.

WILD AND VITOS CELERATE BOXING DAY WITH WINS
  MONCTON, NB, December 26, 2015 - I tdidn't take long for four teams in the NB-PEI Major Midget Hockey League to get back in action after the Christmas break as the Saint John Vitos travelled to Moncton to play the Rallye Motors Flyers and Charlottetown Islanders to Kensington for a game against the Wild Boxing Day. The Vitos edged the Flyers 3-2 and the Wild topped the Islanders 5-3.

SIX AUS PLAYERS NAMED TO CIS MEN'S TEAM
  OTTAWA, ON, December 1, 2015 – Six players from Atlantic University Sport men's hockey teams have been named to the roster for a two-game exhibition series between CIS men's hockey all-stars and Canada's National Junior Team prospects in two weeks, Canadian Interuniversity Sport unveiled Monday.

  MONCTON, NB, December 1, 2015 - Alex Saulnier, of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus and one of the top centreman in the AUS, was named on Monday on the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) roster for a two-game exhibition series between CIS men’s hockey all-stars and Canada’s National Junior Team prospects.

  HALIFAX, NS, November 29, 2015 -  Two teams in the Halifax Metro area came out on the winning side of the games as Cole Harbour Wolfpack won 3-1 over the Fredericton Caps and the Halifax McDonalds doubled the Charlottetown Islanders 4-2 in interlocking home games with the NB-PEI Major Midget League.

  HALIFAX, NS, November 28, 2015 - The Halifax McDonalds and the Pictou Co. Weeks both came out winners in the interlocking schedule with NB-PEI Major Midget teams. The Macs downed the Kensington Wild 5-2 and the Weeks edged the Fredericton Caps 6-5 in overtime on a power play goal.

  COLE HARBOUR, NS, November 28, 2015 - Two NB teams didn't fair well in Nova Scotia as the second part of a home and home interlocking schedule. The Saint John Vitos fell 4-1 to the Cole Harbour Wolfpack and the South Shore Mustangs and Moncton Flyers went to overtime with the Mustangs winning 3-2 on a goal by Dawson Wood.

In another game the Dartmouth Steele Subarus blasted the Charlottetown Islanders 11-1.
 
SCREAMING EAGLES TRADE FOR JOLY
  SYDNEY, NS, November 28, 2015 - The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles has acquired a top scorer in 20-year-old right winger Michael Joly from the Rimouski Oceanic in exchange for three draft picks.
Joly, 5-foot-11, 165-pound winger from Gatineau, Quebec, has played his entire junior career with the Oceanic recording 95 goals, 78 assists, in 180 regular season games.
